Growing Tomatoes

Tomatoes can be started from seed indoors or bought as young plants, then grown either outdoors or in a greenhouse, in pots or in the ground. They grow particularly well in a greenhouse, usually producing an earlier and larger crop. The secret to caring for tomato plants is regular watering and feeding, especially once fruits start to develop.

Your step by step guide

  • April to June is the ideal time to plant out small tomato plants in containers or beds.
  • Build and install your Tomato Gro Zone.
  • Position the Hozelock Growbag Waterer in the Gro Zone.
  • Push your grow bag onto the watering spikes.
  • Insert support canes into the cane holders.
  • Plant up your chosen tomato plants.
  • Fill the Hozelock reservoir with water.

Feeding your tomatoes

We recommend feeding your tomatoes once or twice a week with Tomorite Concentrated Tomato Feed found in our Garden and Wildlife department for added nutrients and high-quality yields.
