We take sun protection seriously and are big supporters of the Melanoma Fund’s Watch Your Back! initiative which encourages gardeners to stay safe in the sun.
The campaign advises:
- Wear an SPF of at least 30.
- Reapply sun protection every two hours.
- Cover up hard to reach areas such as the back of your arms, shoulders and back of the neck.
- Wear a sun hat.
- Use sunglasses with a high quality UVA blocking filter.
- Avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm when it’s at its hottest.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated in the heat.
- Reapply sun protection to your hands after washing them.
- Remember most sunscreens only have a three year lifespan.
